Rhodes and Sherrill re-sign with M’s

Fresh off the Miguel Cairo and Chris Reitsma deals, Arthur Rhodes has committed to a one-year minor league deal with the Mariners- the same deal he had last year before injuries derailed his 2007 season- and George Sherrill avoided arbitration with the M’s by agreeing to a one-year $980,000 contract, perhaps one of the better deals in baseball.

None of these moves address the M’s pressing need for starting pitching.  Even if the team re-signs Horacio Ramirez, the last player eligible for arbitration, that may not address starting pitching either.
