Ichiro’s 0 for 17 start to spring training

So far, Ichiro has been 0-for-spring training, being held hitless in his first 17 at-bats.  Former manager Jim Riggleman, who observed Tony Gwynn first hand while managing the San Diego Padres from 1992 to 1994, says that Ichiro’s body language “looks fine” and that hitters like Ichiro are “looking at the next at-bat.”

Although it’s true that spring training numbers mean nothing and that nobody should be too concerned over Ichiro’s hitless spring so far, I must say that I’d rather have Ichiro get any extended hitless slump at the plate out of the way now so we don’t have to suffer through one come September.
