Baek holds Rangers to one hit over four innings

In today’s split squad action, Cha Seung Baek faced the minimum number of Ranger batters over four innings, allowing just a single as he lowers his spring ERA to 0.82, making a good case for himself to fill a bullpen spot when the team heads north. Jeremy Reed has knocked in the M’s only run so far, plating Miguel Cairo with a sacrifice fly for the M’s to eke out a 1-0 lead.

In earlier action, Felix Hernandez struggled against the Brewers, falling behind 3-0 in the first inning. But a two-run home run by Raul Ibanez off Ben Sheets put the M’s right back on top, 4-3, on their bottom half of the inning. That was all she wrote for the M’s, however, as the M’s were kept scoreless while the Brew Crew tacked on another five runs to triumph 8-4. Joe Dillon picked up four hits, including two doubles, for the Brewers, while Richie Sexson, Miguel Cairo, and Jamie Burke each had three hits for the M’s. Ichiro went 1-for-4. lifting his batting average to .121
